Get to know us
Based in Glasgow, we first met in our first year studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and, after quickly discovering a natural connection, came together to form Lussa.
Coming from different parts of the UK and a range of musical backgrounds, we each bring our own experiences and perspectives to the ensemble.
Our name, Lussa, is derived from the Latin word for “bright light”, reflecting what we hope to bring through our music: warmth, joy, and a sense of connection. We are currently working towards our debut album, marking an exciting next step in our journey as Lussa.
Bailey Mccoo
Bailey McCoo is a pianist from Glasgow. His cultivating passion for traditional music began when he started to explore different musical styles in high school, where he developed a valuable connection with the genre. Bailey's appreciation for Scottish trad and folk music continued to expand as he became inspired by influential styles of traditional piano playing, helping him to create his own distinct sound. Bailey studied under James Ross at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, Bailey has gone onto establish his own music school in East Kilbride.
Elisabet McConnell
Elisabet McConnell is a joyous and dynamic fiddler. Born in the United States and at the age of three, she held her first fiddle on stage. Relocating in 2015, she moved to Dundee, Scotland and rekindled her profound appreciation for Scottish folk music. Elisabet grew up playing classical, jazz, rumba, trad and bluegrass, seamlessly striving to incorporate their diverse influences to create a distinctive style. Elisabet was awarded Dundee's Young Instrumentalist of the Year in 2023 and is a passionate music teacher. Her recent performance credits include appearances at the Scottish Trad Awards, National Mod, Celtic Connections, Come From Away (Captivate), The Fringe and the US Consulate (Edinburgh).
Eneko Lane
Eneko Lane is a London-born composer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist in the folk and traditional music genres. Growing up in a musical household, he quickly developed a deep love for traditional and Celtic music. Prior to Lussa, he recorded and released a solo album, "Musical Traveler" in 2022, a mix of traditional tunes, songs and his own compositions. HE has also been the All Britain Banjo and Mandolin Champion in the Fleadh competitions (2021, 2022, and 2023) as well as winning the Write the World International Songwriting Competition in 2022.
Naomi Priestnall
Fiddler Naomi Priestnall is a dynamic and charismatic performer who captures the essence of traditional music while infusing it with her own fresh sound. Naomi has performed on prestigious stages both home and abroad, including in the Berlin Konzerthaus with the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland's Camerata and on Radio 4's Hogmanay special with piper Malin Lewis. She was a finalist in Scottish Young Musician 2023 and featured as a soloist with the Ayrshire Symphony Orchestra in 2024. Naomi re-launched Ayrshire Trad in 2025 a Traditional Summer School.
